After spending a bit of time at home fixing the shed roof, that was damaged in a storm late last year, I went on a road trip to Tasmania in my kombi called Teddy. Gayle, Nicky,my eldest daughter, her husband and kids flew down and we all had a great week with Ashleigh, my youngest, and her kids for ash’s 30th birthday. Most of the time was spent at my friend’s shack in the centre of Tassie, about 700 metres above sea level where all the lakes are. Beautiful part of the world, but very rugged and can be bitterly cold. And with a freezing cold wind, and a bit of snow, my lungs did suffer, and at some point everyone got the flu. Even the flu shot didn’t save me. After every one flew home, I slacked out for a week in the shack to recover. I then visited Ash again for a few days before catching the ferry back to the mainland and driving through rain for the next few days to get home. For the next week it hardly stopped raining, and my fire pit looks like a tropical fish tank. Even the car club weekend away in Dalby turned out very wet. Most of Australia is copping huge amounts of rain. It’s now Monday morning, the sun is finally shining again, and I’m at the airport, waiting to board a plane via Fiji to LA. I then fly to Nashville with Delta, and my friend Jack will pick me up for a few days of sightseeing. Early this morning on my walk, I thought it strange seeing a ute angle parked across the footpath. He must have been pissed or on drugs, as he abandoned the vehicle smashed up among trees. The people in the house were fortunate the trees were there, or he would have ended up in the house.
