A BLOODY LONG DAY

It started at quarter to five am Monday the 26th of Roctober. I went for my minimum one hour daily walk, showered, cooked a big brekky, which included yoghurt, fruit, bacon and eggs ๐Ÿฅš on toast ๐Ÿ˜‹ washed down with my usual black tea and a spoon full of honey. Threw my stuff into the car,and Gayle left me at caboolture railway station. An hour plus later, I arrived at Brisbane international airport. Like cattle, followed the rest of the queue, checked in, dropped my bag, back in the queue for the security thing. I’m amazed how many people flying out of Brisbane this sunny day. Finally at the gate and three hours later, board my Fiji airways four hour flight for Nadi. Chicken pasta, mmm, tasted alright. Now a four hour stopover, before my eleven hour flight to LA. Pizza or chicken pasta?a different chicken pasta became my choice, as the pizza looked more like plastic. Arrive in LA, in another queue and go through customs. A bit scary these days with all the questions they ask. After a ten plus minute interview/interrogation, the official welcomes me to the United States. Back in the queue and watch the bags go round, until finally mine arrives. I aim straight for the exit that says, “nothing to declare”. A minute later I feel relieved to see the outside. I now have a five hour stopover  before my flight to Nashville. I decide to walk to the next terminal, do the automatic check-in, pay the forty five dollar fee for my bag, which was news to me, and no person there to question. I’m feeling a little knackered by now, as basically had no sleep. I walk for a while hoping to buy a local sim card, but to no avail, as not even the phone shops sell them any more. You used to pay very little for them, with many choices. That’s all changed. The only place I could buy one  was at the currency converter, and I wasn’t paying one hundred Australian dollars for a twenty day sim card. One problem, the free airport wifi won’t allow me to use what’s app to contact Jack. Something to do with protecting my identity. I then went to the Delta airways counter and they allowed me to use their phone. I finally board my Delta flight and four hours later at 11.55 pm Rocktober 26,I arrive, back in the queue to watch the bags go round again, I grab mine, walk outside, and see  hundreds of pickups going round looking for their passengers. I then ask a security man to borrow his phone to let Jack know where I am, and five minutes later I’m safely buckled up for the two hour drive to his home. Just before we arrive, he shows me Bucky’s petrol โ›ฝ๏ธ station. I can’t believe my eyes. There are at least one hundred pumps, and the shop that sells everything, is as big as a Westfield shopping centre in Australia. Finally at three am,we arrive at Jack’s house, and I’m looking forward to my four hour sleep. I’ve now been awake about thirty something hours. Tuesday is going to be a big day, and we need to leave early.
