After the same old breakfast, for the last time, packed my bag and arranged an Uber for the airport to pick up the Jeep Rubicon I organised several months ago. After signing the paperwork, I took the reins for the first leg while Rob did the navigating. Our first destination would be Chattanooga, and following the Tennessee River. We did that on some country roads and the interstate. A stop there and then took the scenic route following the Appalachian mountains. The wind was quite strong, but the weather quite pleasant. The autumn leaves falling from the trees, the colours incredible, and the sun flickering through the landscape with the river snaking beside the road made for beautiful site seeing. Later in the day, Rob drove the rest of the day to a small old country town called Robinsville. A small mountain town,in the far west of North Carolina.with lots of history. Lucky we found a friendly inn keeper,as he informed us,we are in the centre of the Bible belt, and noone sells alcohol. He sold us a couple of beers, and proceeded to get pissed on vodka. He doesn’t live here and fills in when his mate needs him. We enjoyed a lovely chicken dinner called Charohala. Mine came with mash potatoes and a plate of veggies. Rob had a glass of milk with his, I didn’t bother. Hopefully tomorrow I will find the way back to where all the sinners congregate.
